Most popular baby names in Spain

The official top 100 baby names in Spain for 2024: Sofia and Mateo lead. Each name's count and how it moved since the year before.

The most popular names given to babies in Spain in 2024 were Sofia for girls (3,325 babies) and Mateo for boys (3,289 babies).

2024 is the newest list Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) has published. The 2025 list usually comes out around November 2026, and this page is updated when it does.

How this list is counted. Babies born in Spain in the year to mothers living there, from the birth statistics. INE publishes only the 100 most frequent names and prints them without accents (Lucia, Alvaro), so they're shown that way; compound names like Miguel Angel count as one name.
