About the size of an apple — or a chipmunk, or a doughnut. 10.1 cm (4 in), 70 g (2 oz).

Legs now longer than arms. Sensing light through the lids. Practising breathing movements.

The skeleton is hardening from cartilage into bone — which is what starts to show up clearly on a scan.

What your partner can do this week: Research prams and car seats together and put two or three options side by side. Look into antenatal classes near you — some book up early. Keep the chores you took on in the first trimester. Feeling better isn't the same as needing less help.
